Patrik
Vician was born on August 29, 1979 in Banska Stiavnica,
Slovakia. Parents, Jozef and Lydia, has one brother and
one sister. Began playing tennis and ice-hockey at age
seven with his father, who was devoted coach. As a
youngster, grew up a fan of Ivan Lendl, his countryman.
"Having the opportunity to see Ivan practicing so hard
gave me a lot of motivation". Successfully represented
the city and county of Banska
Stiavnica
in tennis. During the years of 1993-1995, in the
category of younger students, he finished in the first
place position of the tennis ladder in the county of
Banska Stiavnica. Also, during the years of 1995-1997,
in the category of older students, he finished in the
first place position. He graduated to Banska Stiavnica
High School in 1997, and from the University of Matej
Bel in 2002 with a degree in Hotel Management. During
the years of 1997-2002 he was a tennis player of the
tennis club Kovo Banska Bystrica, where he also devoted
his time to management activities, coach activities and
the work with the youth. His playing background includes
an appearance in the Semifinals of the County
Championship in 1999 and he was the finalist in 2000 and
2001. Became a Coach of Westhill high school Varsity
girls team in 2007 and has been coaching in Old
Greenwich/Stamford area for 5 years. In addition to his love of tennis, Patrik founded
in 1998 SIPA, which is an organization established to
support cultural and sport events in the community.
Patrik is a certified tennis professional in the
Professional Tennis Registry, the world's largest global
organization of tennis teachers and coaches. Considers
red clay as favorite surface and the French open his
favorite tournament. Red, blue and yellow are his
favorite colors. Favorite tennis players are Sampras,
Corretja, Kuerten, Srichaphan, Johansson and Kafelnikov. Enjoys watching soccer (Bayern
Munich fan), basketball (San
Antonio Spurs fan) and ice-hockey (Detroit Red Wings and
Slovak national team fan). Loves watching movies with
Tom Hanks and Paul Giamatti. |
